Why You Should Never Underestimate Your Opponent

Self defense tips to assess an attacker

The worst thing you can do during a fight is underestimating your attacker. It’s not something that is talked about often, but here’s why yo should never underestimate your opponent.

This is definitely the number one mistake that a lot of people do. And it’s normal. It’s our human nature to often judge a book by its cover.

However, while in most self-defense situations it can be an honest mistake, when it comes to defending yourself, it can be a mistake that can severely cost you.

So, just because your attacker is bigger doesn’t mean he can’t outrun you. Or if he’s small he could be hiding a weapon you might not know about.

Therefore, don’t ever underestimate your opponent. You don’t know how dangerous he can be so it’s best to always assume the worst and be prepared.

One thing that people often don’t think about is that attackers who are smaller can tend to be more dangerous than larger ones.

The reason behind that is because they usually carry weapons with them to compensate for the fact that they are shorter and perhaps not as strong. With that in mind, it’s important to never underestimate them.

Take a look at the video “Never Underestimate Your Opponent”:

Always keep in mind that the goal should be for you to walk away without having to fight.

Therefore, try to diffuse the situation as much as you can and as soon as an opportunity presents itself, don’t hesitate to get out of there.
