Your opponent is going to be very close in order to hit you with a knee strike. He’s going to come at you very quickly, and you’re going to be in a vulnerable position.

The attacker needs to have his victim locked into position so he can make sure every powerful blow lands on target.

He might wrap his hands around the back of your neck, trapping you within his range of attack. While you’re busy trying to get loose. Your opponent already has his plan of action in mind. He’s going to trap you in position while delivering knee strikes to your flanks, your stomach, or even your face.

Your opponent has most likely trained himself to quickly strike you with his knee after grabbing on to you. Your assailant knows what he is doing, and he is prepared for this fight. This means you have to be prepared as well.
