Learn how to defend yourself against an attacker smaller in size
There are several videos online covering how to defeat a larger attacker. But what if the attacker is smaller than you? How should you react? Keep reading and we’ll share self defense tips against a smaller attacker.
Firstly, most people commit two mistakes when fighting a smaller attacker.
The primary one is that they underestimate their opponent. What they don’t know is that smaller guys are harder to strike than their bigger counterparts.
They are wiry, move quickly, and can easily attack your private parts because of their diminutive build. So do not think a smaller attacker cannot hurt you.
Another mistake you can commit is that to get too close to your opponent, thinking that this will intimidate the attacker because of the size difference. In reality, though, what happens is that when you get too close to the attacker, you become vulnerable to close-quarter attacks.
With the distance between you and the attacker only a few inches, you cannot cover all the angles from which he can attack you. This lets him head butt you, knee you, and blast your private parts because you’re now standing in his range.

Here’s what you can do to protect yourself against a smaller attacker.
Use your range, especially your legs, to your advantage as much as possible. This will let you stop him from attacking as well as turn defense into offense, provided an opportunity arises.
Here’s a great video on how to use kicks for self defense.
Another thing you might want to do is maintain your distance from the attacker. This would take you out of the smaller guy’s attacking range.
However, due to the size difference, he’d still be in your range. In a way, you’d have handicapped your opponent without landing a punch.
Lastly, as you’re keeping your distance and using your range, don’t forget to adopt the right fighting stance. That will help you ensure proper protection and enable you to land strikes from that position if an opportunity comes along.
