A Special Case of Knife Defense
In this article, we’ll look at how to defend yourself from an attack with a knife to the throat from behind when facing a wall.
Imagine the following scenario. You’re in a remote location walking in a not so safe area and the next thing you know; someone grabs you and puts a knife to your throat from behind in a mugging attempt.
It’s scary to imagine that something like this can actually happen in real life, but the reality is that in many cases, it has happened.
Now imagine this scenario happening and you’re facing a wall. This is even worse because you’re in a compromised position with not much maneuver. Not only are you in a vulnerable position, but the chances of you getting away have now decreased significantly.
Our video on knife to the throat from behind against a wall, demonstrates that the attacker in this situation is in a position of power. The best way to get out of this situation is to talk to your attacker. Try to make him understand that you are agreeable and want to cooperate.

The first thing you want to figure out is what he wants. If it’s something of materialistic value, don’t hesitate and just give him whatever he wants as nothing is worth your life. Stay focused on what your attacker is asking you and just make him understand that you want to cooperate with him.
If he feels that you’re willing to listen and agree to what he is asking, there’s a good chance that he might put his guard down and loosen his hold on you. As soon as you see an opportunity where your attacker has loosened his hold and you’re able to get away from his grip, use it.
Make sure to strike back hard which will then give you the upper hand. Remember. The goal in any self defense situation is for you to neutralize your attacker long enough giving you enough time to get away.
