Proven way to defend against knife attacks
In this article, we’re going to show you how to use low line kicks to protect yourself against knife attacks. It’s one of the most effective ways to save yourself from getting stabbed.
Here’s why we’re saying that.
First off, when you use a low line kick, you create a distance from your opponent. This makes sure that he’s in a position where you can fully see his next move. As a result, his chances of catching you off-guard are greatly reduced.
Secondly, when you launch a low line kick, your attacker will lose his footing, at least for a few seconds, if not more. This will give you all the time you need to run away (provided you’re in a place or position where you can outrun your attacker).
Even if you aren’t in a position to run away, a low line kick will give you the few seconds you need to gather your thoughts. You can see around to check if there’s anything you can use as an improvised weapon to launch a counter-attack.
This will greatly reduce your chances of getting hurt.

When launching a low line kick, aim lower than the waist.
The idea here is not to knock the attacker out. You want to keep him back to buy those few seconds that could be the difference between you getting hurt or getting home safely.
Another reason why you need to aim low – preferably at the attacker’s knee – is to turn his nervous system against him. Here’s what we mean by this.
When you aim your kick at his knee, your attacker’s nervous system will start shooting low, making him forget about using the knife he has in his hand.
Maintain a defensive posture
As you’re launching low line kicks, keep your arms in a defensive posture. That is similar to the stance in which you block punches. With your arms up, you’d be able to deflect the attacker’s arm away, not letting those knife attacks get to you.
If you sense that your low line kicks have disoriented the attacker, you could launch a palm strike at his face. You can also counter-attack with an improvised weapon (water bottle, jacket, etc.), to come in and trap the knife. This will surely put an end to the attack.
