How to Escape a Front Chokehold

One of the deadliest chokeholds

Getting yourself caught in a front chokehold is a terrible situation to be in, and if the attacker persists with the chokehold, it might put your life in danger. That’s why in this article, we’ll guide you on how to escape a front chokehold within seconds.

One of the major points concerning the frontal choke defense is not letting it happen in the first place.

That’s where your awareness will come into play. If you’re aware of the gravity of the situation, and have your arms up as a result, you’d be able to block the incoming choke.

But let’s say the attacker manages to get the frontal choke on you.

In such a situation, you’ll need to act really fast. It will only be a matter of seconds before you’ll start feeling the choke. That feeling will be enough to sap all the energy you’ve in your body.

So, whenever you find yourself in a frontal choke, act quickly!

Next thing you need to do is to strike underneath your attacker’s chin with your hand. A solid palm strike won’t only overwhelm him. It might also take the wind out of the attacker’s sails, incapacitating him before he could count to three.

Another thing you could do is to hit low, especially if the attacker is in your range.

Aim a low line kick at his legs or private parts. If that isn’t a possibility, knee him where it hurts. Hitting low might not incapacitate the attacker, but it sure will force him to drop his hands.
